Over the years, several women stood in as “Jenny” to walk in parades or appear at events. While the last “Jenny” ad ran in 1962, the image of “Miss Jenny” still appears on brewery merchandise and patrons continue to ask for “Jenny” as they pull up a chair at the bar. Genesee Cream Ale, also known as Genny Cream Ale, maintains a bit of a cult status with beer drinkers. It’s hard to imagine a time when Genny Cream Ale wasn’t an option at your local watering hole. But the beer wasn’t actually introduced to the Genesee lineup until 1960, making it 82 years younger than the original Genesee Beer.

In late 2010, Genesee Brewing developed a new product line under the Rock Wall brewing name. Rock Wall Brewing produces a high alcohol malt liquor product, known as Dog Bite High Gravity. A light beer, Fyfe & Drum was introduced in the 1960s and was discontinued with the emergence of Genny Light in 1978.

In 2012, the newly refurbished location welcomed guests with lots of exhibits to show off the brewery’s past. In the early 1950s, Genesee gifted the people of Auburn, N.Y., with an iconic (and hard to miss) landmark. A 26-foot-high, 48-foot-wide Genesee Beer sign took its place atop a six-story building and lit up the sky every night until the 1970s when it shut off for nearly 40 years. In 2011, the brewery teamed up with local businesses to refurbish the sign with over 9,120 LED lights and relight it with a big festival in town. But Genesee has seen a lot of changes over the last 142 years, from Prohibition to the rise of craft brewing. Now part of FIFCO USA, the eighth-largest beer company in the United States, Genesee is keeping things fresh with trendy collaborations and dry-hopped variations of its classic beers.

The entire set of Historical Maps of Greater Los Angeles compiled for the Bureau of Engineering covering the city from 1847 to the 1960s. This invaluable set contains over one thousand maps on aperture cards which are mounted slides that can be copied on department microfiche reader-printers. We also have Maps of the City Clerk which is also on aperture cards that show bridges, dams, sewers, tunnels and other features of Los Angeles growth from the 19th century to the 1960s. So it sounds like, at least in Grants Pass, that this is not really about reducing homelessness. It’s about reducing the number of visible homeless people in the town. The Santa Monica Canyon Residence was created as multiple loft-like spaces connected to a landscaped amphitheater. Inside, a meandering skylight connects living quarters with courtyards, the kitchen and dining spaces.

That’s what the court was saying in the Martin v. Boise case. So since then, the Martin v. Boise case controls all over the Western parts of the US in what’s called the Ninth Circuit, which includes Oregon where the Grants Pass case originated. They’re saying, basically, if you have nowhere else to go, you can’t be punished for sleeping on the street.

As far as the parents are concerned, it is pretty-clear that this is a working-class family. The father is depicted more or less as a faithful employee. And the mother is preoccupied, indeed even stressed out, with having to care for him, the home and the children. And these kids are presented as the average types, either being engaged in school or play. A ruling in favor of the homeless plaintiffs would mean that they’ve accepted this Eighth Amendment argument, that you cannot criminalize being homeless. And a ruling for the city, every legal expert I’ve talked to has said that would mean an end to Boise and that it would break apart the current state that we’ve been living in for these last several years. I think everyone in this case agrees that homelessness and the increase in homelessness is bad for everyone. It is bad for the community, that nobody is saying that the current situation is tenable. We need to be able to figure out what to do about homelessness and how to care for people who are homeless.

Cove Way, a California residence set among leafy grounds, was originally built in 1957 to the era’s modernist architecture traditions. Goineau worked on refreshing existing features and opening up the space while maintaining the important overall aesthetic and philosophy of the structure.
